Methodology
[margin10]
The project consisted of four principal activities:
- Assess and catalogue the extent of Britten’s annotations found within his Mozart scores.
- Comparative and contextual analysis of these sources.
- The acquisition of digital images of the most heavily annotated scores (as part of phase 1).
- Develop the technical means to display these images for further comparative analyses by other users (performers/composers/academics etc.).
These activities were conducted by Simon Brown at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and in close collaboration with The Britten-Pears Foundation.
